Happy Sunday everyone! I hope your week flew by, and you’re ready to kick back and enjoy the weekend – I know I am! What a week! What could possibly make this weekend a little more enjoyable?? Chocolate… dessert… brownies… and who makes the BEST brownies I’ve had in a LONG time?! None other than the divine Ina Garten. I have to say there is nothing better than a brownie & a cold glass of milk, or an afternoon snack of coffee and a brownie… or a midnight snack like a brownie… can you tell I’m pregnant?! I should also mention that when I’m not pregnant, I’m not huge chocolate fan, and would prefer a bag of chips over anything sweet any day of the week.
You probably got a sneak peak of Ina’s Outrageous Brownies (click for link to recipe) last week with my “The Small Things” post… they looked good then, and they are still delicious now! Are you thinking “eeewww week old brownies?!” Rest easy my friend… if you make too many, you can always freeze them, and then bring them to room temperature when guests unexpectedly show up… or another secret of mine… I try to make too many brownies (try being the KEY word), or too many cookies, and then when I’m having people over for dinner, bring the container out to defrost and get room temperature before guests arrive. RIGHT before we sit down to eat, I arrange them on a cookie sheet, and put them in the oven at the lowest setting. I have a “warm” option on my oven, and it always does the trick to ensure warm dessert without re-baking anything. #sneaky #notsosneakyanymore
These brownies definitely do not disappoint, and they are massive. She doesn’t skimp on flavour in one step, and you can really tell that as you make them. There is no powdered cocoa in these puppies… real semi-sweet and unsweetened chocolate make these snack-time favourites nothing short of decadent. She uses a sheet pan instead of the square baking dishes i used, so mine were a little thicker then hers… but still so so so moist! These tasty squares of chocolaty goodness have basic ingredients which was a huge plus for me (and hopefully you as well)! Don’t you hate when you find something you’ve pinned, and it looks amazing, then you spend a fortune trying to buy all the ingredients, and then it flops… I’ve made a couple recipes from pinterest and done that exact same thing and it flopped… that makes me sad.
