A couple of weeks ago, I noticed on Facebook, a cousin of mine attempted to make fruit leather at home, and found the recipe online somewhere… unfortunately that didn’t turn out for the best, and she felt like it was such a waste of money (for the ingredients) and time… I hate hate hate when that happens! It got me thinking… how often do we pin a million and one delicious looking meals, or fantastic crafts and never around to making them… or attempt, and post a picture of our #pinterestfail all over the net? That’s why today I decided to take a shot at making one of the recipes from my “want to make” board on Pinterest and use if for my recipe review.
Yes, it’s been a while since I had a Recipe Review on here, and it was about time let me tell you! That’s why I’m sharing my experiences with making Blackberry Mint Lime Fruit Leather. I found this amazing recipe on Pinterest, and with the girls being in school, it made sense to me to attempt to make it for lunches! I love there is no added sugar in this (there is honey) but all of the flavours are natural and fresh… using fresh ingredients really does make a recipe pop.
This recipe by Meredith at In Sock Monkey Slippers is perfect if you have stuff to do around the home, and have limited time for prep… but it does take several hours in the oven, so make sure you’re home for the day!
I really liked the flavour combination of this. Blackberries… limes… mint… a perfect and unexpected combo! In 2 simple steps, this comes together and is ready for the oven… and then it’s time to
nap with the kids start laundry.
The girls enjoyed this, and I think I will take Meredith’s recipe and switch it up here with a new flavour combination. All I can recommend is to keep an eye on it… I needed to take mine out of the oven an hour before she suggested, but that is because everyone’s oven is different.
I hope you try this one out at home, and let me know if it worked for you! Thank you so much for stopping by today. This was a tasty treat that the girls enjoyed, and is definitely a recipe that will be making the continued rounds on our home. Have yourself a cheery and beautiful Thursday! See you and chat again soon! Cheers! xo
